Gina Glimmer, blogger and believer

You'll probably know Lenny Kravitz's song 'I'll be waiting' which has been on the radio for the past months over here.

About a week ago I ran across another song of his which came at the right time to match my mood of that moment. I've found it quite empowering although it's a bit rougher around the edges than the music I usually listen to.

I'd like to share it with you as well as my interpretation of a few of its lyrics which I've quoted below. I'm curious to read what your view will be on this.

> There's a choice that you need to make
> One is ore and one is clay
> So drop your chains and take up your cross
> And let Jesus make your way

Belief, faith pretty much comes down to these 4 lines when you're undergoing bad times. Unless you're a strong believer, at these moments your prevailing conviction often becomes that God is not going to help you. "Why me?" may be all that you're thinking.

The fact is that everything happens for a reason, even bad things. I'm not going too deep into this but let's say that no one can deny that we usually learn something from bad experiences in our lives.

So when you're in this moment of despair, there's a choice that you can and need to make. Which direction do you choose? Good or bad, further downhill or back up, sink in your sadness or crawl up and confront your situation?

The choice sound easy and obvious, but it's hard to find courage or energy to choose direction and accept your situation. It's much easier to stay in the grips of that downward spiral you're in, and see where it ends.

Accepting your situation, your reality is the first step on your way out. That's dropping your chains and picking up your cross.

And let Jesus make your way. Have faith, simple plain faith. How often have I been caught here by my own scientific and analytical approach. "Prove it!" is what you would have heard me shout all too often. Well, this doesn't need scientific proof.

All you really need is faith, confidence that you, He, will get you out of your situation. Do it! It really works for me.

Enough of Mah Blah now. Enjoy the song!

"IF YOU WANT IT"

Don't you let it all pass you by
Looking through life's window pane
Don't you sit around wasting time
That would be a crying shame

There's a power that's deep inside
And it burns just like a flame
Just believe and you'll see that God
Will shower you like pouring rain

If you want it
You can change your world today
If you want it
Just break free and walk away

There's a reason for you to explore
Why you're here, what do you say
And the beauty is that you're the one
Who controls just how you play

There's a choice that you need to make
One is ore and one is clay
So drop your chains and take up your cross
And let Jesus make your way
Oh, oh, oh

If you want it
You can change your world today
If you want it
Just break free and walk away

If you want it, want it
You can change your evil ways
If you want it, want it
Just break free and walk away

If you want it, want it
You can change your world today
If you want it, want it
Just break free and walk away

If you want it, want it
You can change your evil ways
If you want it, want it
Just break free and walk away

I might leave my old welcome message in this comment here. At least it helps to let the comments look impressive :D

The blog name has changed, but the bit about buttons applies still... especially to 'delete' buttons...

Hello reader!
I've started this out of pure curiosity to see what's behind this button 'start your own blog'. I'm more a blog reader and a commentator than a writer. My writing skills are subject to strong ups and downs and I believe that my writing skills aren't that good overall. So why should I bother other people with a blog?

Then again, I'm here now and you're reading this... so I'd better make it worth your time as well.

If I decide to continue this blog it will most likely be dealing with my life in the virtual world called Second Life (www.secondlife.com) in relation to my so called Real Life (RL).

Second Life (SL) is very much like a social network rather than a game, and I think that who you are and what you do really matters in this world.

My character, called Gina Glimmer, very much resembles myself although people find me more 'covering my back' in SL. I think they're right, and maybe that's because I've been a bit naive in my early days in SL and bumping my nose a couple of times has made me more careful.

I'm not a 'gamer' in RL, I guess that I was born too early for that ;-), but I do love SL, as far one can consider it to be a game.

Within SL I strongly feel the need for a purpose of my presence, without it and despite having many nice friends I quickly feel bored and depressed. Somewhere in September 07 I found out that SL is the best place for me to vent my creativity. I've become a photographer in SL (http://www.flickr.com/photos/gina-glimmer/) and I've recently started making furniture as well (npirl.blogspot.com).

Feel free to come to SL and visit me, I like receiving visitors! You can usually find me either in my shop or in my studio on the Experience Italy sim. (slurl.com/secondlife/Experience Italy W/179/36/29)

Greetings,

Gina
